BASS PLAYERS are not really famous for standing out in the world of rock. McCartney, of course...Jack Bruce...Bill Wyman sometimes. In Jazz, however, where the bass often is the rhythm, both audible and undercurrent, there are many more names. Now along comes Stanley Clarke, whose background and music both present a fusion of the two sources; a very potent, even thrilling fusion.
