ONE DAY late last December I came home and found this message on the tape recorder that answers my telephone when I'm not home:

"This is Tinker Belle. I'm calling to invite you to the unveiling of Richard Bernstein's naked portrait of Iggy Stooge. It's at his studio in the Chelsea Hotel, Tuesday at 6."
