Snow Patrol: Brixton Academy

A NONDESCRIPT bunch of blokes from Scotland, they spent several years fine-tuning an unremarkable indie-rock formula until they eventually started to sell albums in the millions. But enough about Travis. Snow Patrol are the latest ordinary ducklings to have started laying golden eggs. Their third album, Final Straw, has become one of the biggest-selling CDs of 2004, and along with Keane they have successfully reached out to a vast audience of fairweather rock fans who are in the market for something tuneful but otherwise not too demanding while they wait for the next Coldplay album.
