Snakefinger: Boarding House, San Francisco CA

Byron Coley, New York Rocker, November 1979

PHILIP "SNAKEFINGER" Lithman is probably best known as a member of the Resident family. As such, he adheres to what seems to be one of their major tenets and does not perform live too damn often. Sure, he's had a role in the two major performances of the Residents' career, and I've heard he played a few Bay Area dates with the mysterious Nigel Senada back around 71 or so, but what's that? Five appearances in eight years? It's true he probably played plenty as leader of Chilli Willi & the Red Hot Peppers, but that's another time (pub rock) and another country (England), so you'll have to forgive me 'cause it's outta my ken. Anyway, he recently played a one-night "support tour" for his new Ralph Records single ('What Wilbur' b/w 'Kill The Great Raven'), and it was the wiggiest.
