Skunk Anansie: Second Skin

Lucy O'Brien, Telegraph Magazine, Summer 1999

SKIN WALKS into her manager's house in St. John's Wood and immediately shows off her jeans. "I wanted a pair of trousers that go VROOM at the back, like I'm standing in a wind tunnel. And here I have them," she declares. Made by young British designer Catherine Roberts, with an interesting array of seams, flaps and a train, the jeans do indeed have the desired effect. But only Skin, svelte, rangy and irreverent, could get away with wearing them. Her coat, too, is a futurist Warren Griffiths concoction of cotton and steel.
