Rufus Thomas: The Dog... The Funky Chicken... now for The Push & Pull

DURING RUFUS Thomas' 20 years recording career, he has directly started two dance crazes in the States. In the early '60s he was responsible for creating The Dog — he capitalised on this dance with two singles, 'The Dog' and 'Walking The Dog'. Then, late last year, he roared to the top of the American charts with 'Do The Funky Chicken', which has subsequently turned out to be one of the best selling R&B singles of the year in this country; in fact, 'Do The Funky Chicken' topped our charts during late April and early May.
