VIBRAPHONE VIRTUOSO Roy Ayers slouches in a scoop chair in a loose fitting tweed coat, talking with great animation about his latest album, Virgo Red. He smiles often, punctuating his remarks with active hand gestures. "The most exciting part of the album," he points out, "was when we had all the horns in to sweeten certain songs, it was nice because it was another picture, it just added to what we had done. We did a total of 20 songs and we picked 8."
