Rolling Stones Dump On Rolling Stone

THE CHANGES which the imaginary magazine depicted in Between The Lines goes through — from radical underground to counter-culture to hip capitalist establishment — is more or less the course that has been charted in actuality by the U.S. rock magazine, Rolling Stone. However, that paper's last remaining claims to be alternative reading seemed to be scuttled last week when founder/publisher/editor Jann Wenner devoted five pages of the September 21 issue to favourably re-reviewing the recent activities of The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, both acts who had of late suffered critical maulings from Stone's editorial staff.
