Richard Lloyd: Alchemy (Elektra)

SO YOU thought Television was one of the great American bands, and you sighed when they split up last year. But you were pleasantly surprised by Tom Verlaine's solo album, and encouraged by Ira Kaplan's profile of Richard Lloyd last summer in NYR #21. The angel-faced guitarist was now a singer and songwriter as well, with a new Elektra solo contract, some strong new material, and a backing band with considerable potential.
