Rain Tree Crow: Rain Tree Crow
Mark Sinker, Select, May 1991
RAIN TREE CROW may be a one-off reformation of Japan, but they wouldn't want to be trapped by any of the preconceptions in that. The preconceptions being that Japan were a quartet of late '70s giamboy bimbos who suddenly shifted sideways, whose tame New York Dolls copy evaporated in a moment into something quietly rich and strange. In particular, out of nowhere, the clammily slant-wise single 'Ghosts' hit Top Five, probably the most peculiar song ever to chart.
