Prince: Wembley Arena, London

Adam Sweeting, The Guardian, 26 July 1988

MINNEAPOLIS COMES to Broadway! Even in the wake of Wacko, Prince's latest show is something of an eyeball-popper. The 64-inch-high prodigy materialises from a gleaming white car which tours the circular stage on a crane. Sheila E, drummeuse extraordinaire, rises from the stage while both she and her kit rotate majestically. lights flicker and dive-bomb round the auditorium as if Stephen Spielberg were in charge, conjuring extra-terrestrials from the rafters.
