Pentangle: Album By Album
Rob Young, Uncut, May 2008
OF ALL THE British folk groups of the late '60s, Pentangle were the most commercially successful. Where Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span chose a more earthy, rooted take on folk-rock, Pentangle's jazz rhythm section (Danny Thompson, bass and Terry Cox, drums), plus the mercurial twin guitars of Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, and the elfin vocals of Jacqui McShee recast the folk canon for the Aquarian age.
