Pearl Jam: Manchester Arena

PLAYING THE FIRST of two Manchester shows ahead of their Isle of Wight festival appearance this weekend, Pearl Jam once again pulled off the impressive trick of making a slick arena-sized production feel like an intimate celebration for a large group of friends. Their earnest good bloke-ness, which can sometimes grate on record, was transformed into a major asset live.
