Ornette Coleman

John Lewis, Metro, 6 July 2007

ORNETTE COLEMAN's visits to London tend to be rather special events. Over the past four decades, the legendary saxophonist has been joined on stage by rappers, punk guitarists, Moroccan minstrels, classical chamber quartets, Irish pipers, even by a wailing Yoko Ono. One gig in San Francisco a decade ago saw him joined on stage by people carrying out ritual body piercings.
