IN THE foyer of LA's vast concrete amphitheatre, you could buy T-shirts promising "nothing less than ear-to-ear violence" in lettering supposed to resemble dripping blood. Thus apprised, I was half-expecting Ronnie Wood and Super-K to come on stage, eyes bulging with feral menace, and rip apart several Californian nubiles with their bare teeth...heaven knows, there was no shortage of willing sacrifices.
