THOUGH HE has been blind since the age of six, one of Ray Charles' biggest hates is to be treated as a blind person. It upsets him if anyone tries to take his arm or "guide" him — and just to show how independent he is he makes a habit of whipping round a crowded recording studio, or dodging in and out of busy city traffic!
