IF MERLE Haggard wasn't one of the two or three most creative persons in country music, it would be easy to dismiss him as just another self-made man-country singer gone bad (right wing). I tried to dismiss 'Okie From Muskogee', but his latest hit, 'The Fighting Side of Me', demands a response.
