Meat Loaf: He should have been a talk-show host

Andrew Stafford, Time Off, 25 October 1995

AUTHOR'S NOTE: In late 1995 I interviewed Meat Loaf for a Brisbane street weekly, Time Off, on the release of his album Welcome To The Neighbourhood. It was an unforgettable sermon, and I reprinted it in my second book Something To Believe In. But I think it's worth sharing again on the occasion of his passing: God, or somebody, has clearly decided he's been doing this for long enough. The piece was originally published under the title "He should have been a talk-show host" on 25th October 1995. I got schooled. (Meat Loaf's answers were heavily edited to accommodate the editor's prescribed word length)

Total word count of piece: 947
