Massive Attack: Haçienda, Manchester

MASSIVE ATTACK promised us a "multi-media experience" and, boy, they gave us one. The traditionally grey, post-modern confines of the Haçienda were swamped in camouflage netting and filled with surreal sculptures. All around, tiny televisions and enormous screens carried a succession of abstract images and visual non-sequiturs (a ping-pong ball man with a fork, anybody?).
