Marah: If You Didn't Laugh, You'd Cry
Rob Hughes, Uncut, December 2005
Rip-snorting return of Nick Hornby's beloved Philly kids.
SINCE Kids In Philly (an Uncut Album Of The Month in December 2000), Marah have led a chequered existence. Still in thrall to the redemptive rites of classic rock'n'roll, follow up Float Away With The Friday Night Gods (2002) was impressive enough, but last year's 20,000 Streets Under The Sky sounded laboured. Brothers Serge and Dave Bielanko's troupe seemed to have grown tired.
