Mike Atherton, Echoes, 2002
JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, has been a music town for over half a century. In the early 1950s, Lillian McMurry's Trumpet label made Sonny Boy Williamson into a blues recording star. In the early 1960s Johnny Vincent was producing local artists like Huey "Piano" Smith and Jimmy Clanton and scoring national hits with them on his Ace label.
