"I'VE READ that I'm a demanding perfectionist and a difficult diva," quipped a sinewy Lucinda Williams, who lately has gotten as much press for her exacting work habits as for her music. Whatever the case, on this night the singer/songwriter proved the importance of high standards: Touring in advance of Car Wheels on a Gravel Road — an album that has been five years in the making and still awaits a release date — Williams delivered a bracing two-hour set of perfectly honed new songs and handsomely weathered old ones.
