"LOOK WHAT can happen!" grins Loudon Wainwright III, examining then-and-now portraits on the lid of his career-spanning box set, 40 Odd Years. In 1970 he's wavy-haired handsome, very like his son Rufus. Now — 2009, anyway — as photographer Ross Halfin hollers, "You look like you'd been drinking for a week!" Which Wainwright equably corrects, "Four years, actually."
