FOR A WHILE in 1996 it looked as though Kula Shaker were being watched over by the pantheon of gods and other bods portrayed on the sleeve of their debut album, K. From a standing start in utter obscurity, they scored four Top 20 hits – including 'Tattva' sung, rather unconventionally, in Sanskrit – and sold over a million copies of K in Britain.
