Kris Kristofferson looks back on his early years

THERE WERE two crucial moments in Kris Kristofferson's early career. The first came on the night of 8 April 1970, in a converted old church in downtown Nashville. The Ryman Auditorium was then the crucible of American country music, home to the Grand Ole Opry and the setting for the Saturday TV hit, The Johnny Cash Show.
