Kraftwerk: The Man Machine (Capitol)

Stephen Demorest, Rock Scene, October 1978

MORE UNIVAC rock from the Berlin brainiacs. These geeks (you want a definition of 'geek', just look at this cover) nicknamed themselves "the man machine" and — sure enough — the first track is 'The Robot'. Not a particularly tuneful cut, it solves the lyrics problem by having talking machine electronics intone "we are the robots" over and over. Remember when that was nothing to brag about? It's not too offensive, but gets a mite tedious after a while.
