DURING WHAT was billed as the Heartbreakers' "237th Farewell Performance" (truth in advertising?), Johnny Thunders announced that Tony Machine, who'd drummed for the Thunder-less '76 edition of the Dolls, was now a permanent member of the band. Huh? A band that's allegedly breaking up? "Have-skins-will-travel" Machine, who's been hedging his bets by hiring himself out to the Senders and Syl Sylvain's Criminals as well?
