As this year marks the 30th anniversary of its uproarious debut in a handful of London pubs and clubs, yet more ink and airtime will undoubtedly be spent on a stylistic putsch in music and couture that has since spawned an industry. As Michael Bracewell points out in his foreword to another fat book on the subject, punk rock now ranks on a par with Andy Warhol's Factory, Bloomsbury and the Beatles.
