Joan Jett and the Blackhearts: Glorious Results of a Misspent Youth (Blackheart/MCA)

J.D. Considine, Record, December 1984

IN SOME WAYS, the worst mistake Joan Jett ever made was recording 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll'. Sure, it was a great record, an instant classic, if you will. But that's the problem — ever since, her fans have expected her to follow that great single with an even greater album, while her new label seems to think that such a hit can only be followed by a bigger one. Caught between all this, Jett sounds like she's been pulled every way but loose.
