Jimi Hendrix: The Cry of Love (Reprise 2034)

Metal Mike Saunders, The Rag, 22 February 1971

I'M REALLY glad a final Jimi Hendrix album has finally come out, as it adds to the domain from which to consider the exceptionally puzzling recording studio side of his career. Cry Of Love basically comes in three chunks: (1) two beautiful ballads, 'Drifting' and 'Angel'; (2) six cuts in his old hard rock style; (3) two quasi-blues pieces, 'My Friend' and 'Belly Button Window'.
