Jeff Beck…In Retrospect

Steven Rosen, Los Angeles Free Press, December 1973

JEFF BECK IS one of those characters who is so brilliantly erratic that he is constantly set-ting the music (and journalistic) world on its ear. Mention his name to a musician and any guitarist worth his weight in guitar strings will start to shake; as a member about him and he too will start shaking- but for a different reason. Beck has long been regarded as the original "bad boy" of rock; who was one who "supposedly" stayed home from Yardbirds gigs to watch the telly; he was the one who "always" left or broke up a band; and, he was the one who used to pull all the loose chicks in every town.
