Janet Jackson: Sheffield Arena

Andrew Mueller, Melody Maker, 15 April 1995

IN PRINCIPLE, of course, any member of the Jacksons should be the recipient of thunderous applause just for existing: they are, after all, the most entertainingly dysfunctional family not currently reigning over Great Britain, and at least they've made their own money. Janet, however, is very much the Princess Anne of the analogy, the apparently relatively together one who you could probably even haw a sensible conversation with. Which is doubtless good news for Janet as a human being, but ill tidings indeed for her as a fascinatingly alien pop entity.
