Island in Basing Street

Update, 2019. In the piece below I mention that Basing Street, where Island Records was established in 1969 in what had been an abandoned chapel, staying there until 1980, was one street away from the section of Portobello Road whose stalls sold vegetables and fruits. So why be there rather than say Mayfair, and how did the location play its part in Island's success?
