IAN HUNTER'S been staying at his Manhattan hotel so long (two months) that the staff treat him like a member of the family. Between desperate gulps of caffeine in the downstairs coffee shop it's only 1 P.M., after all Hunter is pontificating on the state of new wave music back in the UK when he's approached by a grey-haired waiter.
