Huey "Piano" Smith

Bill Bentley, L.A. Weekly, 23 December 1982

LET'S COME clean and confess that nowadays Christmas has about as much to do with baby Jesus' birthday as E.T. does with the Pope. Consumerism has gobbled up the holiday spirit as surely as Pac-Man munches fleeing monsters. It's high time to put away all the maudlin and quasireligious Yuletide music we've warbled while pitching face-first into the egg nog and move over for some modern Christmas shing-a-linging. To paraphrase Archie Bell's 'I Can't Stop Dancing', I don't want to wassail, I wanna dance.
