IT WAS A big day for me, for I had just met Andrew Oldham, the brains behind the Stones. He was very thin and he wore no socks with his loafers; he was tanned a sunlamp bronze, and he looked for all the world like a would-be actor parking cars in restaurant lots on La Cienega by night, hanging around Schwab's or the dimly lit booths of Aldo's on the Boulevard by day — temporarily between pictures.
