WELL, IT'S one way of getting a rock critic out of the house. Just tell her a big band is going to make a secret appearance at a small venue, and shroud the affair in such mystery that even the venue isn't revealed until six hours before the show. Miller, the American beer company responsible for this promotional gambit, has staged a series of these events in the States, starring David Bowie, Bush, the Foo Fighters and other big-in-America acts — but would it work in London?
