Hello Goodbye: Gene Parsons and the Byrds

Don Waller, MOJO, March 2004

Hello

AUGUST 1968 My passport into the Byrds was [late guitarist ] Clarence White. I'd met him a couple of years earlier at a recording session. He astonished me and everyone else who was there — and he'd only been playing electric guitar for about six months! I'd heard him playing amazing bluegrass acoustic on die White Brothers records, but it wasn't until I got talking to him that I realised he'd just switched instruments.
