John Lewis, Hotline, April 2010
GIL SCOTT-HERON has long been a regular and popular visitor to the UK's jazz and soul venues. However, by the late 1990s, he'd become an increasingly erratic one. When booked to play large club venues across the UK, he'd turn up late. He'd slur his words, he'd appear jittery, confused and sometimes inept. Sometimes he'd not turn up at all.
