Generation X: Generation X
Ira Robbins, Trouser Press, June 1978
FROM THE VERY start of their recording career, it was obvious that Generation X had some rather unparochial ideas about their role as a punk band. Simply put, despite their origins and image, punk wasn't (and isn't) what Billy Idol and band are about. Basically, they're a powerful teeny band a sort of Rollers for new wave fans. Not that there's anything wrong with that as it happens, they're real good on all levels, so who's to argue.
