THE LAST time I was in London Cass Elliott deep-sixed on a ham sandwich in a Mayfair hotel. Spring 1977, and Sylvia of the Three Degrees took one handful of downers too many and was rushed to the hospital from a hotel just down the road...where I was staying while doing a story on Frankie Miller.
