I WAS IN the eighth or ninth grade when I first heard Elvis Presley. A neighbor buddy and I had gone to the Saturday morning movie. His mother picked us up and on the way 'Heartbreak Hotel' came on the radio. We jumped up and down with excitement, teasing his mother for being so old fashioned as she told us how "vulgar" Elvis sounded.
