Elvis Presley: How 1968 Bought Elvis a King Sized Comeback

AS 1968 BEGAN, Elvis Presley's career was in trouble, the result of too many formulaic films and equally uninspired soundtracks. But by the year's end, Presley had been reborn – back in the Top 10 and enjoying the first rave reviews he had received in years. In 1969, Presley would have his first chart-topping single ('Suspicious Minds') since 1962 and make a triumphant return to live performance. The reason for this sudden turnaround? An hour-long TV special called Elvis.
