Einsturzende Neubauten: The Forum, London

WHAT HAPPENS when enfants terribles of avant-garde industrial noise grow into comfortable middle age? In the case of Einsturzende Neubauten, the former godfathers of Berlin's post-punk underground, nihilistic cacophony has mellowed towards a more restrained middle ground somewhere between rock concert, theatrical performance and art installation. A more cuddly breed of ear-bashing extremist these days, the band's mainstay and singer, Blixa Bargeld, was even spotted on Germany's answer to Ready Steady Cook a few years ago.
