Earth, Wind and Fire Return to Form
Vernon Gibbs, Rolling Stone, 4 March 1982
NEW YORK CITY — Maurice White, the guiding force behind Earth, Wind and Fire, is seated in the middle of a posh Manhattan hotel suite. A party is in full swing, and beautiful women swirl about the room while executives from CBS Records, the distributors of the band's own ARC label, pay their respects to one of the hit machines that keeps the corporation in the black. In the center of the room, a table groans under the weight of assorted goodies, and in one corner, a bartender continuously supplies the needs of the partygoers who drink (unlike the members of Earth, Wind and Fire, who don't).
