IF EXOTICA is, to quote a much used definition, nostalgia for places you've never visited, then the term has potentially universal application. Bearing in mind that Nick Kent once described pub rock to me as "music made by men from Essex about places they'd never been to in Memphis," this is undoubtedly true.
