David Gray: Shepherds Bush Empire, London W12

David Sinclair, The Times, 27 September 2005

FOR A SOLO SINGER-SONGWRITER kind of guy David Gray favours a reassuringly cluttered performing environment. There was so much equipment, set at odd angles here and there around the Empire stage, that it looked more like a rehearsal room under the arches than a shop window for a star currently enjoying his third No 1 album in a row. Clearly the man and his five-piece group were there to do an honest job of work.
