David Bowie: Starman

Geoffrey Cannon, The Guardian, 7 July 1972

Author's note, 2018. WHEN I interviewed Lou Reed in New York in June 1972  he implored me to listen to David Bowie, and especially to 'The Bewlay Brothers' on Hunky Dory. So I did. Here below is the result. We all in rock music now know of the impact that Lou and also Iggy Pop had on David, who had the advantages of good looks, a good voice and charm, and thanks to Lindsay Kemp a deep understanding of performance art and stagecraft, as well as courage, energy and Imagination.
