A KEY STRAIN of early aughties rock is a school of bands desperately emulating the whiteboy guitar angst of Jeff Buckley and Thom Yorke. First movers in this space were Muse, whose overwrought 1999 album Showbiz was roundly trumped by the success of Parachutes, the effete debut by Coldplay.
