Cher: Love Hurts (Geffen/All formats)

Steven Wells, New Musical Express, 6 July 1991

STRONG POP-women ditch bastard men to make it big time. Mad Donna slung out stroppy Sean to become Number One Rock Goddess whilst mighty hewed Pepsi-swilling Tina Turner left the battering bastard to whom she was once hitched a-twitching and a-muttering in her wake. The difference being, of course, that squeaky M is cutting-edge, hardcore pop whilst the mighty-lunged T is rapidly becoming the female Rod Stewart, a cabaret act.
